Downcast started as an independent film project by director Christopher Jayawardena in 2005. First as a short film, it expanded into a feature film script, and was produced in 2011, then spent 2 years in post-production. It was released in 2014. During that time, three ancillary short films; Never Do Harm, Discard, and Poison, were produced to coincide and work as side-stories to the feature film.
The film was shot in the Pacific Northwest by the small production group “DARK AND MOODY PRODUCTIONS”™ – with most of the cast and crew gathered from around the area. It hopes to be the first of many works to come from the team.
